DataONE expands its coverage into Asia by welcoming the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute (TFRI) as the latest Member Node.
By emphasizing the sustainable management and multiple-purpose utilization of forests, the TFRI focuses its work on conserving forest resources, restoring rare animals and plants, improving silvicultural techniques, managing natural forests and providing nature education among other activities. The TRFI’s data catalog contains research data from the various divisions and projects spanning forests, plants, ecology and herbariums throughout the country. Over 680 data packages consisting of a single metadata object and 1-3 tabular (and/or image) objects are discoverable via ONEMercury, the DataONE search interface.
DataONE is pleased to welcome the TRFI to the growing network of Member Nodes and to make integrated search of the TRFI data available to a broad community. There are currently eleven Members Nodes participating in the DataONE network with representation in North America, Africa and Asia. More information about the TRFI and other DataONE Member Nodes can be found here.
