DataONE Video Contest Opens: Win $250

Excited about data management and data sharing? Want to enthuse others with your infectious commitment to metadata?

If we are candid: one of the barriers to making data public is that talking about data management, ethics and sharing too frequently strikes scientists as boring. Scientists laud the dogged commitment to all sorts of routine but mission-critical tasks – Pipetting? Please! – but have a hard time sitting still to talk about data management. We need to figure out how to talk about data management and sharing!

DMPTool Goes Live

The DMP Tool, a collaborative project across seven organizations including DataONE, has now been released. Designed to help researchers learn about data management and write guided Data Management Plans (DMPs), the DMPTool walks researchers through the steps neccesary to create a generic NSF DMP or a DMP targeted to one of six NSF Directorates. You can also save, preview and export your plans and future functionality will allow you to share DMPs with collaborators and other researchers.
