DataONE Welcomes the Groupe de Recherche Interuniversitaire en Limnologie (GRIL) to the Network

The GRIL - the Groupe de Recherche Interuniversitaire en Limnologie (Interuniversity Research Group in Limnology) - is a research group with a focus on freshwater ecology (limnology) based in the province of Québec, Canada. The GRIL consists of over 50 regular members, who are professors across 10 Québec universities as well as their graduate students, postdocs, and technicians.

DataONE Executive Director Rebecca Koskela to become Executive Director of the EarthCube Office

Congratulations to our colleagues at the San Diego Supercomputing Center, ESIP and University of Illinois Urbana Champaign on their new NSF award to host the EarthCube office (ECO) for the next three years. This collaboration represents an excellent opportunity to further support the geoscience community with computational infrastructure and integrate the Earthcube community with the highly successful community platform developed by ESIP over the last 20 years.

DataONE welcomes IEDA to the Network

IEDA (Interdisciplinary Earth Data Alliance) is a community-based data facility supporting research in the earth, ocean and polar sciences. IEDA represents an alliance of NSF-funded data repositories for research data in geochemistry/petrology (EarthChem Library, ECL), marine geoscience (Marine-Geo Digital Library, MGDL) and from Antarctica (US Antarctic Program Data Center, USAP-DC).

Research at the Cary Institute has been instrumental in informing the Clean Air Act, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and environmental management practices throughout the Northeast, including the Hudson River, New York’s Catskill and Adirondack forests, and the watershed of Baltimore, Maryland.

DataONE welcomes the Chinese Ecosystem Research Network

The Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN) is an important part of the knowledge innovation project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences established to monitor China's ecological environment changes, comprehensively study major issues in China's ecological environment, and develop resources in environmental science and ecology. CERN consists of one synthesis research center, five disciplinary sub-centers, and numerous ecological research stations representing diverse ecosystems, including agriculture, forests, grasslands, deserts, marshes, lakes, urban, karst, and marine.
